This is Just to Say...

I don’t get them at all. I have hardly submitted anything anywhere ever, but it occurred to me the other day that that is probably a, shall we say, imprudent move, career-wise, so now I’m going to start submitting like a crazy person but all these magazines just seem terrible. All the submission…

They are nuts. I’ve just started the whole process and I’m confused by it all. They’re taking an embarrassingly long time to get back to me (I work for a lit journal, I know what embarrassingly long is). Based on advice from my editor, I started high on my list, submitting to the biggest places I could. Apparently it’s awful to later realize you wasted a piece on some two-bit journal that now has the first north american rights to it.

Right now though? I’d kind of like anything, even a response.
