This is going to make me so famous.
I have a cat with a sad face.
I question his mental state often.
Am now looking for pictures of other people’s sad cats. Here!

Cheap raincoat?
After living through the rainy season, and never getting around to buying a raincoat, I’ve decided I can’t take this any longer. I hate rain jackets, I always have, since I was little, but I admit they’re necessary.
Anyone have any recommendations for places to look (online, stores) for cheap, stylish raincoats? We’re not talking ponchos here, but also I don’t want...

Tonight we’re going to go to Wrightsville and see if we can see some meteors. Is the prime viewing spot? No, there’s probably too much light. Is it the prime viewing time (11pm)? Probably not. Will it be a beautiful night at the beach with a blanket and bottle of wine? Most definitely.

Wii question:
My apartment building was hit by lightening today. I swear to god. At first I thought it was just close, but it was so unbelievably loud that I screamed. My smoke detectors all started beeping and all the fire alarms went off for like 20 minutes. I think it short circuited them for a minute. When I turned on my wii (to watch netflix instant—my savior from boredom) the TV was full of stripes....

Petfinder amuses me.
A lot of the shelters describe their available pets in first person. Which becomes hilarious when they insert passive aggressive comments towards the people that gave the animal up—particularly after adopting it, which I think is terrible too.
“Separation anxiety is an intense fear of being abandoned again. Once my people left me alone, I immediately went into a state of panic...

I'm thinking of picking up a second cat today.
I’ve been looking for weeks, and a beautiful male six month old Turkish Angora just walked into my life (or the shelter, to be exact). Now that I’m seriously thinking about it, I feel really guilty about my first cat. I wanted to do this for him—I think cats are happier in pairs—but I know he’s going to suffer from only child kitty syndrome to being part of a pair.

I don’t get them at all. I have hardly submitted anything anywhere ever, but it occurred to me the other day that that is probably a, shall we say, imprudent move, career-wise, so now I’m going to start submitting like a crazy person but all these magazines just seem terrible. All the submission…

They only let you narrow your search to 100 miles, so I just fall in love with cats I’m not possibly going to drive that far to rescue.
Caturday
My longhaired cat must have sensed I was going to go look at animal shelter cats today, in order to find him a friend. That’s why he decided to shit all over himself (as long-haired cat are wont to do) and in the process make me doubt the entire thing. Happy caturday!
Confusing moral issue..
A kid I went to undergrad with (I didn’t know him personally) died a few days ago in the streets of Portland. He was walking with a female co-worker and three guys started harassing her on the street. He stepped up to defend her, which is wonderful, and was punched once in the face by one of the guys. The guys took off and thought nothing of it. The boy hit his head on the bricks of...

Apropos of nothing...
I remember the day I got my first Seventeen magazine. I was ten or eleven, and it came to my house addressed to occupant. The good people at Seventeen magazine knew there was a girl between the age of 10-16 in there and goddamit, they were going to capitalize on it.
I remember I came home from school and it was gorgeous out, a day like today, in maine. My grandparents were visiting. But I could...
natface asked: Oh lady noooo. Modcloth is so terrible. Whenever I see anyone link to something from there, I just want to dive in front of them Secret Service style and stop them. I ordered a blazer from them that looked adorable online, and when it came, it was wayyyy too big and the cloth was nubbly. Awful. All their stuff is super cheaply made and falls apart.
This is a wonderful article.

I love how they say they thought it was a domestic altercations (actually it was a kidnapping attempt) and that the guy was her ex-boyfriend or something. “But that doesn’t matter. If you changed your name in the past few months I may have missed you, considering I’m following a lot less people than previously.
It was also sort of nostalgic going backwards in my tumblr history. It reminded me to check if some people are still active or if I’ve just missed their posts.

I'm trying to argue with a libertarian on FB.
He’s actually intelligent, writing-wise. So, not your normal troll. Currently he’s arguing that before the states came in an took away their rights, in colonial VA and NC blacks had upward mobility through the free market.
“Like I said, blacks in pre-revolutionary Virginia (and I’m presuming in all of the other colonies too) were working their way up the social ladder....

Vets aren’t open sunday, so I couldn’t take it to the hospital. I considered it fate that out of the hundreds of apartments in our complex it chose ours. I gave it some food and water and it followed us out when we went to the grocery store. We decided if it stuck around until tomorrow we would see about adopting it (we want another cat anyway).
We got back from the store and I was...

It was weird though. I got the most responsible gift of my life (a Triple A membership, which makes me and my boyfriend feel safer because I’m an idiot when it comes to cars), and the least responsible: a gift certificate for a new tattoo! Eee! I’ve wanted a tattoo for about three years…who am I kidding? I’ve wanted one since my first one.

I’m surprisingly ok with that. No party, no bars, no special meal. My family members didn’t really get anything to me in time, so unless the mailbox is full when I get home today, I’ll have one thing to open (from my boyfriend). He works tomorrow, so maybe we’ll do something Saturday, but maybe not. I told him I’d open his gift and the card from my mom tomorrow...

and it’s pretty good! My favorite part? Predictably, Jane Lynch. Though, as a JL fan from way back—admittedly only because of my undying obsession with all Christopher Guest movies—I find her character, Constance, so refreshing. It’s not Sue MF Sylvester, or Mrs. Terry Bohner (who is kinda sweet) or closeted Christy Cummings from Best in Show. SHe’s just really sweet,...

I started a twitter account.
Only because I want to read famous people’s tweets. That’s probably how everyone starts right?
So frustrated.
So I tried to sublet my apartment, and had a very interested person. I found the apartment of our dreams—seriously, I still love the shit out of this place—and the person dropped out. Made the other landlord wait while I scrambled to find someone else, entertained two other supposedly “serious” offers who then said no. I just reposted the ad and nothing. No responses. Just...
